Summary: It's not perfect but I love it 2006-10-24
Comment: I gave it a four because as I've said it's not perfect.

I love the colors and design. The adjustable foot rest is a big plus. The seat is very comfortable and cushiony because it's double vinyl padding. It folds up easily. The chair's height is also adjustable.

It has two trays, you can use the lower tray (big white) when the upper tray (yellow) is in the washer or you're waiting for it to dry off if you had it handwashed.

Since the chair's height can be adjusted and the big white tray is removable, your child can use this chair for a long time. He/she can use it as a regular chair when he/she gets bigger.

The seat belts get stained easily. I just soak them in warm water and mild detergent every week though I wipe them with wipes and dry paper towel every meal to lessen the stains. I think there are food that can really stain certain materials, so be careful. It's also better to wipe the chair after each meal to avoid staining the vinyl.

The food gets underneath the vinyl pad/cover but I think almost all high chairs have its bad points when it comes to food getting "somewhere" around and in the seat, unless the chair has no cover at all, and if that's the case, the food has nowhere to go to but on the surface of the chair. You can use a toothbrush to remove the crammed food in the tray, if there's any. All in all, I think it's just a matter of how you maintain it.

The dishwasher-safe tray is the one that disappoints me. It can't fit in my dishwasher maybe it needs a bigger dishwasher, so I just handwash it. I can't fully complain about it because having a big tray as this has also an advantage.

Customer Rating: 2 Star
Summary: Major food trap 2006-09-11
Comment: I got this high chair after reading rave reviews about it from more than one parenting magazine-- of all the models tested, they put this one at or otherwise near the top. So I was pretty confident about my purchase, thinking that this must be the perfect chair for my child.

Except that, well, it's not perfect, not at all. To be fair, it *does* have several nice features, including two trays (the orange one pops off, so you can use the white one underneath for the next meal if you like) and an adjustable footrest. And yes, the blue/yellow color combination is every bit as bright and cheery as it looks in the photograph.

For me, however, that about sums up the positive points. On the down side:

*The seat belts are very easily stained, even if you wipe them off right away-- mine are now a faded tomato sauce color, thanks to spaghetti night.

*Food can get *underneath* the vinyl seat, which I didn't realize until last week when we decided to hose the whole thing down (to try to get those stains off the belts)-- old Cheerios and other large crumbs were all hiding away under there, which was pretty gross to discover.

*Next, those trays, though touted to be dishwasher-safe, don't even come close to fitting in my dishwasher. Not the end of the world, but definitely inconvenient.

*The worst part of all: The way the white tray is designed. There's a seam of sorts going all the way around it, where the plastic comes together, and it's a MAJOR food trap. Problem is, once food gets crammed in there (and believe me, your kid *will* smear food all over), you can't get it out. I've tried to bleach it and everything, all to no avail-- so I'm pretty distressed about that. It's like making my child eat off a cracked plate, with old food trapped inside.

So if I could do it all over again, I would not purchase this high chair.

(And if I've learned anything from this experience, it's not to put so much trust in magazine reviews!)
