The first is that the smaller inner tray is easily removeable by our son.--He's been able to do it since he was only ten months old or so. It makes a big mess when he picks up the tray with all his food. We don't even use the inner tray anymore. Also, the trays have stained with just normal use. Lastly, the chair is somewhat difficult to clean because there is a large plastic piece that does not move. We also can not remove the straps to put them in the washing machine. However that plastic piece successfully keeps him from climbing or wiggling out even when he is not strapped in. There's something about the angle when the tray is on which makes it next to impossible for him to bend his legs to get them out (so far!) which is great. I hope they'll re-engineer the tray, so it's more useable. I do like that it's removeable by adults--just not...Read more 8 of 9 people found the following review helpful: By D Darkman (New York State) - See all my reviews This review is from: Eddie Bauer Wooden High Chair (Baby Product) I've used this high chair for about 8 months; my son is now almost 1 year 2 months old. I bought it because I liked the idea of natural wood rather than plastic because of environmental reasons, and because I reasoned a wooden chair would ultimately last years longer than a metal-and-plastic one. (The tray assembly, by the way, is all plastic, as is most of the frameword that the tray snaps onto. Everything else, is solid wood, doesn't look like particleboard.)
The chair is extremely easy to assemble -- just four large bolt-like screws. But, every few months the bolts loosen, and one or another falls out onto the floor. (Yes, they're swallow-able, and fairly large too, so it's a hazard that absolutely should not be. Deserves a recall, if you ask my opinion.) Periodically, I must go around tightening the bolts. I should note there is one bolt that is most prone to loosening & falling out, so maybe there is a fluke manufacturing problem with that one bolt. But the...Read more 5 of 6 people found the following review helpful: This review is from: Eddie Bauer Wooden High Chair (Baby Product) I have to admit that I bought this for looks - then when we used a much cheaper high chair that my in-laws bought when we went for a visit I realized how impractical the Eddie Bauer chair actually is. First of all, it doesn't have wheels which obviously makes it hard to move around and get into place. Second, the chair is not contoured. My son is very small and was always slumping to one side or the other and we would have to put towels in to prop him up. Then when I used the "cheap" highchair at my in-laws (an Evenflo) which has a contoured seat, the difference was like night and day! Also, the straps are a pain to get on because there is a part that has to go behind him. All in all I would say - looks nice but if you ever use a more "modern" high chair you will realize all the practical conveniences that this chair does not have. |
