Product Description
Discriminating parents can now afford the luxury of high-end designer wooden high chairs. From the makers of Svan, comes a new more affordable option in high chairs. A two-in-one convertible wooden high chair that enables babies from 6 months and up to join the family at meal time, while also providing parents with the convenience of an easily stored tray. As baby grows, so does the Anka Chair! With adjustable seat depth, tray and footrest the Anka Chair provides ergonomic support for your baby and adjusts and grows well into toddlerhood. This clever design has many of the features of its high-end cousin, the Svan High Chair, without the high-end price.

The plastic tray cover is dishwasher safe. The cushion is machine washable. The chair can be easily wiped down with furniture cleaner or damp cloth. The tray stores on the back of the chair and the legs fold for convenient storage.

The Anka Chair adjusts to fit your growing child. The seat depth adjusts by repositioning the T- bar to one of two settings. The tray adjusts as well to complement the settings of the seat depth and can be removed completely so that even a baby can join the family at the table. The footrest adjusts to one of four settings as your child grows from a baby to a preschooler.

Keeping children safe is our top priority so all finishes are lead-free and the plastic tray cover is phthalate and bisphenol-A free. The foam padding in the washable seat cushion (included) is PBDE-free. The Anka Chair comes standard with a 3-point safety harness and has been ASTM and JPMA safety certified.

Summary: Fantastic chair! 2010-07-28
Comment: Can't say enough positive things about this chair. Attractive, sturdy, love the plastic tray cover, and the small footprint.

I'm wondering if the different finishes might account for the disparity in the reviews here? We've got the honey finish and it's very high quality wood. It's possible that the darker finish might be more prone to chipping and scratching-- just a guess. But the model we have is a home run-- perfect chair at a relatively reasonable price for something this good looking.

Summary: Pretty but not functional or practical 2010-07-14
Comment: We chose this highchair because we did not want a huge, ugly plastic highchair ruining the asthetic of our lovely renovated kitchen--BEFORE or son was born. Now our son has grown into an actual, active, mess-making toddler and I realize that once you have little children running around you can say bye-bye to a decorating style without kid stuff and primary colors for a while. I absolutely would not buy this chair if I had to do it over again. This chair is good looking and well built. However:

1. This chair is early impossible to keep clean. I am the opposite of a germ/clean freak but the unremovable crusted food on this chair even grosses me out.
2. Not adjustable enough to protect your clean child and his/her clean clothing from all the falling-food debris that the bib misses.
3. Not suitable for babies when then are in that stage of wanting to be upright but unable to support themselves.
4. Hard to get the tray off to wash and clean--this alone is a deal breaker in my book.
5. After a few months of use, this chair isn't so pretty anyway. It is like a piece of furniture, which you have to scour several times a day.
6. Ours came with an off-white cushion. Huh? For a baby?

Our Anka is sitting in our garage. We have a fisher price space saver in a just-fine neutral beige that costs a fraction of the price, isn't offensive to look at, and is about a million times easier to use/take care of.

Summary: Great chair...if you don't want the big plastic kind. 2010-04-22
Comment: We really like this chair but I can definitly see how not all parents would. It fits our style and lifestyle well. We opt to have our baby pulled up to the table rather than eat off of the tray most of the time but I do like that you can remove the plastic cover on the tray if you want.

Pros:
Seat cleans super easy - spot clean or throw in wash.
Small footprint, fits right up to our table or folds away easily. We can't stand those big cumbersom wheeled chairs.

Cons:
Small tray compared to plastic highchairs (but this is a pro for us).
Baby can hit head on the top of the seat. This really worried us so much that at first we put a blanket behind our baby's head so she couldn't bump it.

Hope you like it...we do!

Summary: Attractive chair, perfect for small spaces 2010-03-22
Comment: We've been using this chair for 3 months now, and our baby is now 9 1/2 months old. We couldn't be happier with this chair. It is as nice looking in-person as I was hoping it would be. We've received many compliments from friends. It's also stable and easy to clean. The plastic tray cover snaps off and can easily be rinsed in the sink when it gets really dirty. For minor clean-ups, I just wipe the tray off. The chair is the perfect size for our condo. I like that I can eventually remove the tray and put the chair up against a dinner table when we are ready to have our child join us for dinner. For now, the chair is plenty big enough for our child. Hopefully it won't get too cramped for him as he grows. I think the dark-brown cushion with the pale wood chair is the perfect combo. Food spills don't show up much on the dark-brown fabric- so it always looks pretty clean. I saw they sell a cream-colored cushion. I can't imagine using that for a baby- I would think it would look very dirty all of the time.

Summary: listen to the negative reviews! 2010-02-28
Comment: I wonder if the people with all of the positive reviews have actually put this highchair through 6 months of use with a messy infant, or if they just review it right out of the box?? I loved this high chair from the moment I saw it (small, wooden, contemporary design...) but I am disappointed now! We are first time parents so I didn't have any practical experience to draw from when we bought it.

1. The finish is coming off, in chips, right on to my kid's hands. (And I have never even used the scrubby side of the sponge to clean it!)

2. The tray is difficult to get on and off, and ours has a big crack across it now because the tray slipped off one day and apparently it is not flexible enough to even handle a 6 inch fall to the wood floor.

3. The straps that hold the baby in are in no way removable, which means they stay filthy. This chair is hard to clean all around, but that is my biggest gripe.

We are getting rid of this chair at our earliest opportunity. Not sure what we will buy (I still will not go get some huge awful plastic recliner) but when it comes to baby stuff, function is more important than form. And how cute/cool is your highchair when it has stubborn food stuck to it and the finish is coming off? People who actually have kids (not just pregnant and shopping for a baby) know that!
