Summary: Not for babies above the 95th percentile in weight and wears cloth diaper 2010-05-06
Comment: My daughter is 13 weeks and weighs 16 lbs. Her weight is listed as above 95% on the growth chart. We also use the BumGenius all-in-one cloth diaper on her which is a lot bulkier than a disposable diaper. I was excited to try the bebepod plus on her since she now can fully support her head, but I'm afraid it is already a snug fit. I got the Bebepod over the bumbo because of other reviews stating that the Bebepod is roomier. It would've been nice if the manufacturer listed a max weight on this product like car seats. I will be returning this product as I fear she'll outgrow this in 2 weeks.

Summary: Very Strong Chemical Smell 2010-04-09
Comment: I just received the Orange bebePod and it had an overwhelming chemical smell to it.

I tried wiping it down with water (which did not work); then left it outside for 2 days to air out (which did not work).

After all that, I decided to give the bebePod a quick test-drive before returning it to Amazon. My baby was extremely content in the bebePod, but when I removed him from it his entire outfit had the chemical smell on it. AWFUL !!

Summary: Love the Bebe Pod - Bumbo is just Ok 2009-09-05
Comment: We chose the Bebe Pod because as the time the Bumbo had a recall & I wasn't a fan of how flimsy it felt. Also, the Bebe Pod came with a tray, 2 liners and a toy. We never used the toy on the tray, instead it was used to entertain our daughter in the car when she was a few months old and is still a nice big toy that she occasionally plays with now that she's 15 months.

I give the Bebe Pod all the credit for helping my daughter be able to sit up. It kept her in a nice seated position and the number of giggle fits she would have from sitting in her chair was priceless! We also used this to feed her when she was 6 months at home and at my inlaws. Easy to transport and clean! The tray was a really great way for my daughter to learn how to pinch small items soft foods.

We've been using this chair for almost a year and she still enjoys sitting in it. She recently figured out (and gained the coordination and strength) to get out of the chair so it's now a great place for her to sit for story time. I've found her sitting in it and singing many times too so it's also great for her to just enjoy some quiet time alone with her thoughts.

I love the Bebe Pod, it's truly a great baby product and with all the accessories it's well worth the cost. We have had some experience with the Bumbo and in my opinion it really doesn't compare when it comes to quality.

I didn't experience any weird chemical smells with mine so I'm guessing that may just be certain pods that were defective in some way. I have noticed that the Bumbo can get dirty easily (turns that black/brown color in areas that are touched regularly) I don't know if it's because the people that own them don't wipe them down often or if it's because the material is porous. The Bebe Pod does not get that dirty look, at least mine hasn't and it's been used everyday for a year now. I do wipe it down with baby wipes though.

Both have tipping issues but mine will only tip over if my daughter throws herself off the side and forces it over. My daughter is off the charts tall for her age (always has been) and was able to tip over in the Bumbo by just leaning too much to one side. I half wonder if it's because the Bebe Pod is made of stronger material and the Bumbo is more a more foamy type material.

Summary: Preferred over Bumbo 2009-07-16
Comment: My daughter is a chubby baby with those cute little baby leg rolls. I started out with the Bumbo, but found that even at 4 months, the leg slots were too narrow, and if I tried to pick her up, the seat came with her. She hated the Bumbo, probably because she couldn't move her legs at all. I took it back and gave this one a try. She loved this seat! A bonus is that the tray actually attaches to the seat, unlike the Bumbo.

As far as the stinky smell, I must have been one of the lucky ones, because mine didn't stink at all. I think the previous reviewer was talking about phthalates, and the seat is phthalate and bpa free (according to Prince Lionheart). Anyway, I didn't have a stink issue with my seat.

Summary: Depends on Your Child 2009-01-12
Comment: My child hated this seat, but he did like the toy as long as he was not in the seat. He never liked his car seat or high chair either. My husband always remarks that we paid $60 for a toy. If you have a child that does not like to be confined, don't buy this. Our little boy has always wanted to stand and he was constantly trying to push out of this chair. Buy the toy separately and save yourself $50. I have found the chair useful for feeding when I am at someone else's home. He will stay in it as long as I put food in his mouth.
