This mat is really well made, and I love the pattern. However, I don't really need the bag that it comes in. I wouldn't discourage someone from buying it because I can attest that it will last a very long time and can hold up to regular cleaning. However, there are much cheaper options that also do the job. I currently own four different splat mats, and this was the most expensive.

When we first started feeding our son in his highchair, we didn't feel like we needed anything to cover our hardwood floors. Then he started flinging things over the side of his chair purposely. This mat is a lifesaver. It protects our wood floors and is so easy to wipe clean. The mat is heavy enough that it stays flat on the floor without curling. It is machine washable to boot.

I bought this product for one use but am using this for something totally different. I originally bought this for my 2 year old for a combination of under his chair/booster seat and in front of his play kitchen where he likes to add water to the sink and splash - I'm trying to protect our wood floors. They are both next to each other so I thought we could use them for both at once. Unfortunately, it's just a tad too small for that. If it were 1 or 2 square feet bigger, that may work. We tried to just use it for under the chair/booster at the table and we had difficulty unlike others. We were not able to slide the chair out easily. It was sticking to it and would pull it out with it. Maybe it was just too much weight with our chair and the booster. We then tried to put it in front of the play kitchen to catch all the water...but since the mat seems quite sticky with bare feet, he refused to go on it.
