I purchased this mat 5 months ago when my daughter was almost 6 months old and we needed to pad our hard-wood living room floor. I just threw this mat away and replaced it with a different brand. I wanted to do that almost immediately after we got it but my husband wouldn't let me. Here's my summary:

Pros
It's cute. I purchased it mainly because it fit the color scheme in our living room, and I liked the letters and numbers on it. In hindsight, that's silly because it's best used for babies 5 or 6 months old to about a year or so, once they start walking (once they're older than that, there's no way they're going to stay on a mat this small anyway). They're not learning their alphabet this early, so the alphabet design on the mat is pointless.

It's soft and cushy.

Cons:

First off, we live in Germany because my husband is in the military. I ordered this mat and it came exactly a week later! So, I praise amazon for the fast shipping!!

Pros:
I put together the mat yesterday and it smelled a little but nothing to strong. The colors are absolutely BEAUTIFUL! The color sequence on the one I got matched the picture perfectly. I love the font of the letters and it is pretty big. I just love it and it was worth every penny!!! The mat also doesn't slide on the floor wich is great. I put my two month old daughter on it and she loves staring at the colors of the mat. The texture helps her to push when she is on her tummy. I just love this mat already!!!

Cons:
We have granite floors so the letters and numbers don't pop out or anything but when I was putting the mat together some of the pieces easily came off. Others were held in tighly. I don't like that the inner cut outs for the eight are so small but I will probably...Read more

It is important, when purchasing this product, to calibrate your expectations accordingly. This is not the sort of product that will last, as pictured, long-term. We have a 13 month old, and it took her about three weeks to figure out that she could basically detach each of the squares from one another. Some reviewers seem to have been upset or surprised by this, and I'm not sure why. The product description makes clear that the material isn't the highest quality. This mat is not meant to stay intact long-term. Our expectations were that this mat would be another toy that sometimes doubles as a mat. After all, our daughter has a ton of fun taking it apart and putting it back together (and in truth, at least 2/3rds of it has actually remained intact). As long as you know what to expect when you order this item, you'll be very happy.
