Comment: I have purchased this chair for both of my grandchildren. My daughter and the children love it. The chair "grows" with the child. Quality of wood and construction is outstanding.

Comment: I haven't bought one of these for my new baby yet, but we had one when I was a kid, and I can't wait to get one for the next generation. We used it until after I graduated from high school as a seat in the kitchen. This design stands the test of time.

Summary: mostly great product with some minor complaints 2007-12-28
Comment: This is generally a great product...but not for infants. We have another
Tripp Trapp chair brought over from Europe, with a baby set (basically a rail and a strap that goes between the legs). It surely wouldn't meet US safety standards, but we find it much better than the harness system that comes with the US product. The harness was just too complicated, and we couldn't get it to fit securely. So our older son uses the new Tripp Trapp, and our infant uses the imported one.
My other complaint is maybe not true of all chairs....but on ours, the nails that attach the teflon pads (or whatever they are) were not fully recessed, so they scratched our floor considerably before we noticed. Easy to fix, but a nuisance.
In general I would highly recommend this product...it is wonderful to have everyone at the same table, and this is far more attractive to have in the house than a huge plastic high chair. And our three year old still loves it (and I use it occasionally too!).

Summary: Solid, well-built, attractive chair for the long-haul 2007-02-23
Comment: I'm petite and so is my 3-year-old. As a kid, my feet dangled. They didn't reach the floor for a long, long time. Some places I go, my feet still don't reach the floor, so I know first-hand how fatiguing it is to have dangling feet. I didn't want my son to be facing that same discomfort at the dinner table for his whole childhood, so I caved in and bought this chair, despite its seemingly insane price.
Some people have said that this chair transformed their fidgety preschoolers into well-mannered children who sit at the dinner table for hours. I didn't see any such magical change come over my son. Don't get me wrong -- he loves this chair and is clearly very comfortable in it. In fact, when we eat at someone else's house, he'll usually comment that their chairs don't have a footrest for him. But that doesn't mean he now sits patiently at the table and waits for everyone to finish eating. He's a preschooler, and he still wants to get up and go when mealtime is over.
So I'd say, if you want an attractive chair that's ergonomically designed for a young child's comfort, then this chair is worth the investment. But if you're hoping to solve your child's dinnertime fidgeting, this may or may not be the cure.
*NOTE: This chair was formerly known as the KinderZeat. The new Tripp Trapp chair is essentially the same as the old KinderZeat, just with a five-point restraint instead of the old three-point restraint. I know this because I own one of each. For more reviews, search for KinderZeat on Amazon.com.
